What Are Dental Bridges?
Dental bridges are essentially a bridge between any gaps created by one or more missing teeth.
A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap.
It is mounted onto existing teeth or implants and cemented into shape to bridging the gap and create a full and natural-looking smile.
Types of Dental Bridges?
There are three types of dental bridges that can be used.
The most commonly used type of dental bridge, is made of either porcelain fused to metal or ceramic.
Cantilver bridges are used when there are adjacent teeth on one side only.
The cantilever bridge is best suited for use in the back of the mouth where it can’t place much force on other teeth and damage them.
Resin-Bonded Bridges or Maryland Dental Bridges
Resin-bonded bridges are also known as Maryland bridges. They are made of porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or plastic teeth and gums supported by a metal or porcelain framework.
